So you’ve got this exciting campaign or new product you want to tell people about. Shouting from the rooftops tends to show how passionate you are about what you’re doing. GaryVee demonstrated that for us on the previous blog post here. So how do you go about reaching out to bloggers? Very carefully. There’s lots of advice out there about how to contact bloggers.
- Write a great pitch. There are different ways to do this one definitely but having experience of being pitched by Christina from The Advance Guard I can say her style of pitching *does* work. Make it short, clear, interesting and among others, be respectful of the blogger’s time.
- Don’t fake a relationship with the blogger. Learn about the blogger before before you ask them for anything. Converse, contribute, and take the time out to help. Realize that relationships take time to build.
- So how do you build a relationship? Carefully. Check out how Dave Fleet approved the methods that Molson’s communications rep used reaching out to him without coming off as pushing or creepy.
- Please don’t feed the blogger bad pitches, it makes them cranky.
What are some best examples of a pitch you’ve received as a blogger? The worst? What advice would you add?

Hi Chel,
Thanks for the link!
In terms of worst pitches… I don’t usually ‘out’ bad pitches, but this one was bad enough that I had to: http://tinyurl.com/3qpntf
Cheers,
